Walk Good “Lady” is a Barnard Dances 2019 commission that uses themes of disfunction and function to explore feminine identity as it relates to mental health. It was born out of in-depth discussions on gender, toxic femininity, and notions of positive femininity. “Walk good” is Jamaican Patwah’s term for “take care,” mainly said as a departure salutation. The work suggests that self-care, caring for others when able, and unabashedly requesting/receiving support from others, can improve well being.

"...my favorite piece [of the show], Walk Good “Lady” by Davalois Fearon, which literally blew my mind– it was raw, emotional, vulnerable, and unlike anything I had ever seen before!"

-Alyse Rovner, Columbia Student Press
