Time to Talk is a multimedia dance piece rooted in research on American history, dance history, racial identity formation, and systemic racism in American concert dance, academia, and society. Dynamic fluid dance, live music, poetry, and visual art are used as tools to bring attention to inequalities within the dance field and society at large. Time to Talk aims to encourage audiences to increase their awareness around how they unwittingly support a status quo of inequity.
The Time To Talk Initiative, developed in conjunction with this work, provides the community with resources and ways to take immediate and long-term action. The newest phase of the initiative, Time to Talk with Davalois Fearon, consists of a series of live dialogues between Fearon and Black Dance Artists, including Charmaine Warren and Mikaila Ware.
Choreographer Davalois Fearon brings high energy and tenacious virtuosity to all her work. Her upcoming Time to Talk unpacks Fearon's research around systemic racism, racial identity, American history and dance history.
