DFD offers educational performances that raise awareness of asthma and feature an excerpt of the repertory work For C.J.
Each performance is followed by a discussion that focuses on issues of medical and environmental racism related to disparities in asthma care. This dialogue also highlights pathways to improving health outcomes for urban youth of color, who are disproportionately affected by high rates of death due to asthma. The educational performance closes with an added layer of awareness and engagement by inviting participants to learn dance movements associated with each of these pathways to provide an embodied experience as a means to increase the impact of the message behind the work.
